Reciprocal visits

Funding for school partnerships in the early stages of development

Reciprocal Visit grants are aimed, typically, at young partnerships who have been working together for at least six months and who are laying the foundations for long term collaborative work with the view to embed a global dimension in the school curriculum.

What funding is available?

A total of £1,900 is available for a school-to-school Reciprocal visit grant to cover travel costs of at least one teacher from each partner school.

If your school forms part of a cluster of schools linking with a cluster of schools in your partner country, then a maximum of £5,700 is available for a cluster-to-cluster Reciprocal visit grant.

Who can apply?

Pre-schools, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and sixth form colleges who are developing a partnership with a school in Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Caribbean can all apply. The UK school has responsibility to apply for a grant on behalf of the partnership. However, applications should be prepared on a collaborative basis.

International schools in Southern countries are not eligible.

When should I apply?

The DFID Global School Partnerships programme is undergoing a competitive tendering process and we are unable to confirm application deadlines beyond 1 May 2008. DFID will make an announcement once the tendering process is complete. Schools will be notified in advance of any changes to procedure and information regarding current grants and future deadlines will be available on this website once an announcement has been made by DFID

Should you require any further assistance, please contact the OIEB.
