Policy & strategy

DfES’s strategy document front cover

The OIEB has been operating since 1997 on a strategy approved by Oxfordshire County Council. The central platform of that strategy is regional partnerships and that has resulted in partnerships with, for example, Uganda, Singapore, Baltimore, Andalucía and Bordeaux. Through the BEFSA Trust, new partnerships are being developed with the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

The DfES’s strategy document (Putting the World into World Class Education) is a helpful place to start to create your own school policy but 2 other documents are also essential reading material:

a) Oxfam’s ‘Education for Global Citizenship; and

b) DfES’s ‘Developing the global dimension in the school curriculum’.

The OIEB can also offer more direct guidance and associated documents to assist schools in the process of creating policy and strategy.
