Oxfordshire International Education Bureau (OIEB)

OIEB helps schools develop an international dimension through curriculum development, school-to-school partnerships and professional development. Since the OIEB was set up in January 1997, it has introduced into schools wide-ranging activities that have changed the ethos of a large proportion of schools in significant ways and provided much valued direction. This has resulted in long-standing relationships between Oxfordshire Local Authority and similar education authorities around the world.

Purpose

Our aim is to work with schools to help them develop a coherent international dimension through the curriculum development, school-to-school partnerships and professional development.  Under the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) curriculum models for 2008 already out, and the new Self Evaluation Forms (SEF) requiring reference to international work, we see our role becoming a lot more central to what is happening in schools.

Performance standards and monitoring quality

The OIEB is monitored through questionnaires sent to schools and by written feedback from schools and one-off conferences.  Evidence of the success of the OIEB is the number of schools involved in the many programmes on offer.
